This morning I’m playing the role of the proud wife. My husband is now a published author!
Okay, so it’s not really a role I’m “playing”–I am genuinely proud of him! Do you know how much work it takes to publish a book? This has been a process 3 years in the making and it’s hard to believe the book is finally here. I’m so proud of what he’s accomplished, I could burst!
The book is titled Play It From the Heart: What You Learn from Music About Success in Life. Here’s a description from the publisher’s website:
Former students often thank their music teachers for what they were taught about music and about life. Play it from the Heart uses stories and concepts from music education as models for success. Making music together requires exceptional cooperation, and ensembles are the ultimate cooperative organizations. J. Steven Moore relates what he and his students have learned about excellence, leadership, responsibility, cooperation, and passion from being in the band. Calling on personal experience, student feedback, and resources ranging from Tim Lautzenheiser to Mahatma Gandhi, Moore shares the lessons of playing from the heart.
If you are a Maven reader, you probably love music. And if you love music, you’ll love this book! It would make a great, feel-good, easy-to-read addition to your summer reading list.
